ChipXPRT seed investment of PKR 50 million marks a major milestone for Pakistan’s semiconductor ambitions. ChipXPRT, a spin-off from the NUST School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, has secured the seed funding from Matracon Pakistan Private Limited — a vote of confidence in home-grown chip design talent, announced on 5 October 2026.
The deal makes ChipXPRT one of the few Pakistani startups working at the sharp end of the global semiconductor industry, where demand for specialised chip design expertise continues to outstrip supply.

A spin-off built for the chip industry
Born out of research at NUST’s School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, ChipXPRT builds cutting-edge chip design solutions for the semiconductor industry. The startup brings together academic research depth with a commercial focus — a combination that university spin-offs are uniquely positioned to offer.
The PKR 50 million seed round from Matracon Pakistan Private Limited will help the company scale its engineering team, deepen its design capabilities and take on larger projects for semiconductor clients.
Signing ceremony at the National Science & Technology Park
The investment was formalised at a signing ceremony held at the National Science & Technology Park at NUST, the university’s innovation hub that houses startups, research centres and technology companies.
The choice of venue was symbolic: NSTP has become the launchpad for many of Pakistan’s most promising deep-tech ventures, and the ceremony put ChipXPRT’s achievement in front of the country’s wider innovation community.

Pakistan’s semiconductor moment
Around the world, semiconductors have become the defining technology of the decade — powering everything from phones and cars to artificial intelligence. Countries are racing to build domestic chip capabilities, and Pakistan’s universities are beginning to produce the engineers the industry needs.
ChipXPRT’s seed round suggests that investors are starting to notice. If the startup can convert this funding into world-class design work, it could blaze a trail for a new generation of Pakistani deep-tech companies — and help put the country’s engineers on the global semiconductor map.
The funding also highlights the role of university-linked innovation parks in turning research into real businesses. With NSTP and similar hubs maturing across the country, more academic spin-offs are expected to follow ChipXPRT’s path from lab to market.
