Car buyers in Pakistan have received some welcome relief as two of the country’s leading automakers cut prices on their popular hybrid models. The move follows a reduction in sales tax on hybrid vehicles, the benefit of which is now being passed directly to customers walking into showrooms.
Honda Atlas Cars and Toyota Indus Motor Company have both issued revised price lists this month, making some of the most sought-after hybrid SUVs in the local market cheaper by up to Rs1.07 million.

Which models got cheaper
The steepest cut comes on the Honda HR-V e:HEV, which is now Rs1.07 million cheaper at Rs9.299 million, down from Rs10.369 million. The HR-V VTi-S also becomes more affordable with a Rs500,000 reduction, bringing its price down to Rs7.299 million.
Toyota’s Corolla Cross hybrids are cheaper as well. The Corolla Cross HEV X drops by Rs570,000 to Rs9.729 million, while the standard Corolla Cross HEV is down Rs550,000 to Rs9.299 million — notably the same price point as the discounted Honda HR-V e:HEV.
Why prices fell
The price relief follows the government’s decision to cut General Sales Tax on hybrid electric vehicles with engines of up to 2000cc from 25 percent to 18 percent. The revised rate took effect on September 13, 2026, and was widely reported in the business press on September 26.
Industry observers say the tax cut is meant to promote cleaner mobility and bring fuel-efficient vehicles within reach of more Pakistani families at a time when petrol prices remain elevated and household budgets are stretched.
A boost for green motoring
Pakistan’s hybrid segment has grown steadily in recent years as motorists search for relief from fuel costs. Models like the HR-V and Corolla Cross compete head-to-head in the compact SUV space, and dealers expect the lower sticker prices to pull more buyers into showrooms in the coming weeks.
Analysts note that consistent tax policy is key to sustaining this momentum. A stable, lower tax regime for hybrids could encourage more automakers to introduce electrified models locally rather than holding back new launches.
Key facts
- Tax change: GST on hybrids up to 2000cc reduced from 25% to 18%.
- Effective date: September 13, 2026.
- Biggest saving: Honda HR-V e:HEV — Rs1.07 million cheaper at Rs9.299 million.
- Toyota cuts: Up to Rs570,000 off Corolla Cross hybrid variants.
- Validity: Revised prices apply for a limited period and while stocks last.
What buyers should know
Dealers caution that the reduced prices are available for a limited time and only against current stock. Prospective buyers should confirm the final on-road price with authorised dealerships before booking, since freight, insurance and registration charges are usually billed separately.
With hybrids already cheaper to run than conventional petrol cars, this fresh round of cuts makes them an even more compelling option for motorists looking to escape high fuel costs.
