FAQ

Electricity bill — frequently asked questions

Quick answers about estimating and understanding your electricity bill in Pakistan.

Apne bill par “units consumed” dekhein aur woh number upar enter karein, phir Protected ya Unprotected select karke Calculate dabayein. Ya meter ki reading se is mahine ke units nikaal kar bhi estimate kar sakte hain.

Protected consumers are those who used 200 or fewer units per month in the previous six months — they pay much lower tariffs (Rs 10.54–13.01/unit). Everyone else is Unprotected and pays the higher progressive rates starting at Rs 22.44/unit. Your bill shows your category.

This tool calculates energy charges only. Your actual bill also adds fuel price adjustment (FPA), quarterly tariff adjustments, GST, income tax, TV fee and fixed charges based on your sanctioned load — so the printed bill will be higher. Always verify from your printed bill.

FPA (fuel price adjustment) passes changes in fuel costs through to consumers each month. It is added on top of energy charges and changes month to month, which is why two months with the same units can have different bills.

The biggest saving is staying under 200 units to keep Protected status. Reduce air conditioner use, switch to LED bulbs and energy-efficient appliances, and avoid running heavy appliances during peak hours (typically 6 PM–10 PM).
