Frequently Asked Questions

What is MTS on PSX?

The Margin Trading System lets you buy shares with borrowed money. A financer funds part of your trade and charges a daily financing rate (capped at KIBOR + 8%). Maximum tenure is 60 days.

How is the financing cost calculated?

Daily cost = Financed Amount × Annual Rate ÷ 365. It accrues every calendar day you hold the position, including weekends.

What triggers a margin call?

If the stock falls so your equity drops below the VAR-based maintenance margin (illustrated here at your margin %), the financer demands top-up cash or sells your shares.

Can I roll over an MTS position?

No — MTS cannot be rolled. One quarter of the contract releases automatically every 15 days, and the full position must close by day 60.
