Frequently Asked Questions
What are the KMI screening criteria?
Interest-bearing debt must be under 33% of market cap, non-compliant income under 5% of total income, and the core business must not involve prohibited activities (conventional banking, alcohol, gambling, etc.).
How often is compliance reviewed?
The KMI All-Share Islamic Index is recomposed semi-annually. A stock compliant today may be removed if ratios breach thresholds at review.
What is dividend purification?
If a compliant company earns a small non-compliant portion, you purify dividends by donating that percentage to charity — keeping your returns halal.
Disclaimer: Based on publicly described KMI/SECP screening methodology as of October 2026. Thresholds and methodology may be revised — always verify against the latest KMI recomposition notice. This is not a fatwa; consult a qualified scholar for religious rulings.
